SUMMARY

This video covers much terrain, as Will Steger opens up with a short biographic discussion of his childhood and curricula vitae, emphasizing the power of curiosity as driving force behind his explorations. The discourse leads into Steger living the early days of satellite communications and how he developed an education program for children in the Arctic. The program capitalized on children's natural curiosity of electronics. Steger began allowing children to operate radios and other devices. Then Steger proceeds to discuss the arrival of the internet and how he quickly recognized the revolutionary power of the internet in education. He goes into great detail concerning various programs he developed. Throughout the video, Steger brings in vidoes from his expeditions and time spend in field envrionments, leading children to harness their innate creativity, creating learning oppertunities at every turn in time.

GOALS

To show high school instructors, specifically, but also instructors at any level, how to harness the power of curiosity in order to engage the student, maintain focus and develop deep memories of information. Not only data, but the development of tacit knowledge.
